Lawnwork in Gucci

When we’re in fashion, in the industry, our parents grow into our hand-me-down Gucci sneakers; they do yard work and cut the grass in Gucci. I recently purchased and direct mailed my father a silk cotton crewneck sweater because I thought the colour would look good on him. He is definitely going to wear it in his backyard while he waters his plants and lawn at 7:30pm every summer day (clockwork). I know he won’t see it the way I do. Something happens when you grow into adulthood, soaked in designer, as an industry debutant: one grows to value the finer things for everyone around them. It’s not like we grew into a finer taste, we just expect everyone in our story to be well-dressed.
